Mert Ozkan

He was born in Karaman, at the southernmost tip of Central Anatolia, on the slope of the Taurus Mountains. After completing his primary and secondary education there, he completed his bachelor’s degree at Eskişehir Anadolu University Tourism and Hotel Management School and his master’s degree at Selçuk University Public Relations Department. Since her childhood, she has received musical training at public education centers. She worked with important instrumentalists both as a chorister and as a sazende. He took every opportunity to study music and received training in music notation, singing, style, baglama and oud. For 4 years, she took part in the polyphonic folk music choirs of Anadolu University and performed in many successful concerts. His one-on-one work with Hüsnü Üstün, an important composer and musician of Turkey, whom he calls “my master”, gave a different direction to his musical journey. He still continues his journey in the limitless depths of music under his guidance in Turkish music theory, usuls and oud performance. He benefits from respected artists of Turkish Art Music such as VEDAT Kaptan Yurdakul and Meliha Gülses in terms of choral work, performance and repertoire. Mert Özkan is the president of the Swiss Turkish Art Institute, which he founded in 2013 with the slogan “Our cultural heritage from traditional to universal” and is also a choir conductor.
